Open Source Licenses used in Hancom Office S

Open License

An open license grants a permanent user license for only the contracted version of the product from the time of purchases. Therefore, an open license does not grant the user a license for any new versions of the product released after the time of purchase. If you wish to use a new version, you are required to purchase the open license for the subject version.

ALA (Annuity License Agreement)

ALA (Annuity License Agreement) is an annual lease with a term of one year. When a new version of the contracted product is released within the one-year term, user license for the new version is granted to the user. The user license for the Software in this agreement is terminated when the contracted term expires. During the one-year contracted term, the price will not be affected by any price increase of the contracted Software or a new version of the Software.

Home Edition

'Home Edition' is a product intended to be installed and used for home-use only, and cannot be used anywhere else. It cannot be used for business purposes (for profit) by individual businesses, corporations or organizations.

End User License Agreement

1. License

Hancom Inc. grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferrable license to install and use the software program and bytecode version of the software, including documents and updates related to Hancom Office S (Hancom Office S is maintained only in Korean and English) (hereinafter referred to as the Software), developed by Hancom Inc., for the purposes limited to those specified in this electronic document.

2. Limitations

Unless stated explicitly in this Agreement, you may not use, reproduce, transmit, exhibit, disclose, modify, lease, lend, rent, resell, distribute, or transfer copies of the Software. You may not attempt to reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, transfer, attempt to create source codes using the bytecodes of the Software, or authorize a third person to perform any of the aforementioned actions. However, these restrictions are void only when they are in violation of related laws. Any and all attempts to transfer the rights, obligations or responsibilities specified in this Agreement are void. You may not publish, disclose, modify, lease, lend, rent, resell, or distribute a derivative product, created by using this Software, in part or whole.

3. Confidentiality

This Software consists of Hancom Inc.'s property rights and confidential information. Except to yourself and other licensed users registered with Hancom Inc. and has agreed to the terms of this Agreement, you may not disclose, distribute or exhibit the Software to any third party.

4. Ownership

You do not hold ownership of the Software. Instead, you are granted the rights to use the Software according to the terms specified in this Agreement. Hancom Inc. reserves any and all rights that are not explicitly granted to you in this End User License Agreement. You own the media which contains this Software. However, Hancom Inc. reserves ownership of the Software itself and any copies of the Software. Hancom Inc. reserves all intellectual property rights regarding the Software.

5. Terms of Agreement

This Agreement may be terminated without notice if you violate the terms or conditions specified hereof. You are immediately required to destroy the Software and all copies of the Software upon termination.

6. Disclaimer of Guarantees

This Software is provided as-is. Hancom Inc. and its suppliers explicitly disclaim all warranties indicated, expressed or intended under applicable laws including the implied warranty with regard to the merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement of the Software. Hancom Inc. does not guarantee conformity of the functions included in the Software to your requirements or needs, error-free or interruption-free operations, modification of all defects or errors of the Software, nor the Software's compatibility to all platforms. The scope of aforementioned guarantee shall not expand, and any new guarantees shall not apply, except for the information or notices provided by Hancom Inc. in writing.

7. Limitations of Compensation

Hancom Inc. and its suppliers are not liable for any losses in profit, data losses, suspension of work, or any other special retributions, indirect, subordinate, or any other losses, or any other claims made by you or a third party, resulting from not using or the failure to use the Software or its included data, unless there is explicit evidence that Hancom Inc. was aware of the possibility, and was able to predict such damages or losses.

8. File Access Rights

By using the website, its contents, services and/or your files, you are agreeing to the Hancom Office S (Software) accessing all files stored on your computer and/or folder. By storing files in a shared and/or public folder, you are granting the rights for Hancom Office S users and/or the public to access and use the files stored within shared and/or public folders.

9. Revisions to Terms of Service

By using the Software, you hereby agree that Hancom Inc. reserves the right to revise the Terms of Service anytime at its discretion. If you continue to use the website, its content, services and/or your files after the Terms of Service has been revised, it shall be presumed that you agree to the revised Terms of Service and your responsibilities and rights shall be granted according to the revised Terms of Service. Hancom Inc. reserves the rights to claim the costs for using the website, contents, services and/or access and use of your files.

10. Account Security

When using the website, its contents, services or your files, it is your responsibility to manage your password safely. It is your responsibility to not disclose your password to anyone. Even if you have granted rights to use your password to a third party, all activities or actions resulting from using your password is your sole responsibility. If your password has been misused, it is your responsibility to notify Hancom Inc. swiftly. To increase security when transferring your data and/or files to Hancom Inc., it is your responsibility to use encrypted communications when using the website, its services or transferring your files.

11. General Restrictions

By using the website, contents, services or your files, you hereby agree to the following restrictions.

You may not post, make public, or transfer any text, graphics or data that; (a) is false or poses possibility of being misinterpreted, (b) is defamatory, (c) is in violation of privacy, (d) is indecent, sexually explicit or aggressive in nature, (e) may induce prejudice, racial discrimination, or hatred, or impose harm on any individual or organization, or (f) promote any activities in violation of laws or regulations of your country or may result in civil liabilities.

You may not attempt to access, modify or use private areas of the website (including, but not limited to, user folders not designated as “public”), computer systems of Hancom Inc. or technology provision systems of Hancom Inc.'s service providers.

You may not attempt to discover, investigate or test vulnerabilities in the system or network, nor violate security or authentication policies.

You may not attempt to access or search the website, its contents, services or user files using any engines, software, tools, agents, devices or mechanisms other than the software and/or search engines provided by conventional web browsers provided by other companies (Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.), including any software provided by Hancom Inc. or browser automation tools.

You may not send emails, junk mails, spam or chain mails, service or product promotion emails or advertisement emails without the consent of the recipient. You may not forge any information in the email, TCP/IP packet header of newsgroup posts or header information. You may not use the website, its contents, services or your files for the purpose of transmitting information of fabricated, forged or false sources.

You may not decipher, decompile, disassemble, nor reverse engineer the Software intended for provision of the website, its contents, services or user files.

You may not interrupt or attempt to interrupt the user, the host or network access, which includes, but is not limited to, distribution of viruses on the website, overloading, flooding, sending spam mail or mail bombs. You may not distribute malware on computer systems of Hancom Inc. or systems of its service providers, nor use the website, its contents, services or user files for the intention of distributing malware.

Hancom Inc. reserves the right to investigate and take legal actions if a user violates any of the aforementioned articles, including violation of intellectual property rights of Hancom Inc. and security issues regarding the website. Hancom Inc. reserves the right to press charges against users who violate this Terms of Service in collaboration with law enforcement authorities. While Hancom Inc. is not obligated to monitor any user who accesses or uses the website, its contents, services or your files, you agree that Hancom Inc. reserves the right to monitor users for the purposes of operating and managing its website and services, confirming user's compliance to the Terms of Service, related laws, or to comply to orders or requests of the court, administrative organizations or any other government organizations.

12. Bearing Risks from Using the Website

You are solely responsible for all risks arising from using the website, its contents, services and your files. Hancom Inc. is not responsible for computer system errors, data losses or any other defects from using the website, its contents, services and your files.

13. Licenses with Restricted Rights (U.S. Government)

Restricted rights apply to the Software licensed in this Agreement. Restrictions specified in sub-clause (c)(1)(ii) of Rights in Technical Data and Computer clause in Department of Defense contract DFARS(48 CFR 252.227-7013), sub-clauses (c)(1) and (2) of Commercial Computer Software-Restricted Rights in FAR (48 CFR 52.227-19) for the Federal government, NASA case in clause 18-52.227-86(d) of NASA Supplement to FAR or chapters related to similar organizations applies to any and all use, reproduction or disclosure by the U.S. government or any individuals or entities that represent the U.S. Government.
